With decades of experience and many miles traveled between Seattle and Tacoma, I’ve worked on vehicles in nearly every neighborhood, housing development, apartment complex, and parking garage across King and Pierce counties.
Over the years, I’ve serviced thousands of customers and driven more than a million miles doing so. I’ve had five work vehicles, each surpassing 200,000 miles—proof of the time and dedication I’ve poured into my craft.
When I first started my business—long before the internet—companies advertised in the local phone books. These directories acted like direct-mail coupons. The first two months after they were delivered brought a flood of calls, then things leveled out for the rest of the year.
Back in the 1980s, I could get from West Seattle to Kirkland in under thirty minutes—hard to imagine today. My busiest two days on record happened on a weekend the phone books dropped: I performed nine diagnostics on Saturday and eight more on Sunday. That kind of pace would be impossible today.
These days, I aim for three jobs a day. That’s only achievable because of the years I’ve spent mastering dispatch, diagnostics, and anticipating what parts will be needed before I even arrive on-site.
Communication is crucial in this business. Customers must be willing to take the time to discuss the symptoms of their vehicle so I can complete a pre-diagnosis. Then, they need to schedule the service call—and if the required parts are available, same-day repairs are possible.
If parts aren’t available locally that day, I’ll find and order them right away. Once the order is placed, I’ll schedule a firm return date to complete the repairs.
